SwimStrong is a competitive, year round swim program based in Strongsville, Ohio and serving the southwestern suburbs of Cleveland. From time to time, members of the SwimStrong Family make us so proud that we just have to brag a little bit. We do it here.

Long Course 2011 Summary

August 8-13...Congratulations and good luck to Michael Meldon who is competing in the 50 free, 100 free, 100 back, and 100 fly at the 2011 Jr. National Championship in Palo Alto, CA.

Aug 5-7... Congratulations to the following swimmers who qualified for the 2011(Age 14 & Under) Central Zone Meet at Indiana University: Brooke Delventhal, Julia Newbould, Ari Soika, Carter Ostrowski, Mike Pichette

Aug 2-6...Congratulations and good luck to Justin Hill who is competing in the 50 free at the 2011 National Championship in Palo Alto, CA.

July 23-26...Congratulations to the following swimmers who participated in the 2011 Sectional Meet at Cleveland State University: Jenna Barrus, Gabi D'Abato, Sammi Hargis, Maddy Kawiecki, Peyton Kranz, Mitch Delventhal, Joey Ferrante, Shawn Hannak, Justin Hill, Chris Hoffman, Michael Meldon, Carter Ostrowski, Mike Pichette, Greg Porch, Kyle Shepherd, Alex Strawser.

July 8-10...Over 100 SwimStrong swimmers competed at the Freedlander Meet in Wooster, Ohio and were awarded the first place trophy for the second year in a row.

Short Course 2010-2011 Summary

May 1, 2011 ... At the annual Lake Erie Swimming Awards Program, SwimStrong was awarded the inaugural Club Community Service Award for their Splash Out Cancer efforts in raising $8,725.28 during the 2011 season and $14,735.55 to date. These proceeds have been donated to both the local chapter of the American Cancer Society and the Seidman Cancer Center. Thanks to everyone on the team for their outstanding efforts to make a difference both in the water and out of the water as well!
Also, congratulations to Michael Meldon who was awarded the Lake Erie Swimming Athletes' Award, as voted by fellow athletes, at the Gold Championship Meet in March 2011.

December 30, 2010 ... Congratulations to Julia Newbould (10), Sydney Mayberry (10), Ari Soika (12) and Mike Pichette (14) for being selected to represent Team OH/LE at the annual Mid-States Quadrangular Championship Meet in Indianapolis, IN on Jan 8 - 9. Team OH/LE will face all-star teams from Michigan, Kentucky and Indiana.

December 19, 2010 ... Congratulations to Julia Newbould (10) for achieving a NAG AAAA time in the 100 Fly (1:10.85) at the Christmas Meet in Pittsbugh, PA.

Splash Out Cancer

November 6-7, 2010 ... SwimStrong's second annual Splash Out Cancer swim meet was an even bigger success this year, thanks to everyone who contributed! Swimmers once again did Chores for Charity and sold baked goods. The team donated a portion of every swimmer's entry fee, sold raffle tickets, t-shirts and more to net a total donation of $8,725.28. to the Seidman Cancer Center at University Hospitals, keeping all the money local. Many thanks to Kelly Farmer and Liz Jones who were the keys to the success of this wonderful fundraiser.

Junior Nationals

August 9-13, 2010 ... Michael Meldon had a great week representing SwimStrong at the USA Swimming 18 & under National championship meet (Junior Nationals) held in Irvine, California. He finished 9th place in the 50 meter Freestyle with a time of 23.62.  He also did well in his other events.  He went 52.88 and finished 49th in the 100 meter Freestyle where he was originally seeded 105th.  He also went 57.06 and finished 48th in the 100 meter butterfly where he was originally seeded 158th.

August 8, 2010 ... Carter Ostrowski and Ari Soika traveled to Lincoln, NE for the Central Zone Meet. Ari took 10th place in the 100m free. Carter won the 50m back and 50m free, took second in the 100m back and 100m free and placed third in the 200m back! Awesome!!! Click here for complete results.

USA Sectionals

July 21-24, 2010 ... Congratulations to Jenna Barrus, Michael Meldon, Colin Lyon, Danny Nemeth, Joey Ferrante, and Kyle Shepherd who represented SwimStrong at USA Sectionals in West Lafayette, Indiana.  USA Sectionals are regional meets where the best college and high school swimmers come together to compete. Our sectional includes swimmers from Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana.

June 20, 2010 ... Congratulations go out to Michael Meldon and Carter Ostrowski for acheiving "AAAA" cuts at the Busbey meet on June 19-20. Michael (17) went 24.24 in the 50 Free while Carter (12) went 28.20 in the 50 Free and also 32.22 in the 50 Back! Awesome job guys...

Update! Michael's time in the 50 free was so fast that he qualified for Junior Nationals. Way to go, Michael!
